Proofreading and editing services in English
Hi, I offer proofreading and editing services in English. My clients are mostly academics seeking to publish in international journals.
I have extensive experience in this field and I am a member of the Society for Editors and Proofreaders (SfEP, is a UK-based professional organization providing editorial services, training, and professional qualifications). I am a graduate of the London Metropolitan University in Law, and of Ben-Gurion University of the Negev in the Management of Public Administration, and I am a student of the teaching of English at Kaye Academic College of Education.
My clients ask me: "Saul are you a formalist or just looking to make our readers understand what we have written?" (This is sometimes known as the prescriptive and descriptive styles.) I tell them that the formal requirements of the publishers are insurmountable (APA or Oxford style) and have to be followed exactly. I also strive to present your writing in the clearest and most coherent style as possible. The academic who publishes a paper is joining a conversation; a conversation assumes there are a speaker and a listener. The academic writer wants the listener to be engaged, to connect to their readers and the readers to actually read and absorb the information. The use of confusing or complex language is not conducive to achieving that goal. Keep it clear and coherent. Speak from your heart directly to your reader. Otherwise, you risk subverting the whole purpose which is to communicate new ideas to an audience effectively and persuasively. Write about yourself and your beliefs and the new knowledge you have discovered and wish to introduce. I will help you to achieve this.
... and finally, we cannot finish without the words of the late and very great Dr Seuss:
"And NUH is the letter I use to spell Nutches,
Who live in small caves, known as Niches, for hutches.
These Nutches have troubles, the biggest of which is
The fact there are many more Nutches than Niches.
Each Nutch in a Nich knows that some other Nutch
Would like to move into his Nich very much.
So each Nutch in a Nich has to watch that small Nich
Or Nutches who haven’t got Niches will snitch."
